Dimitris Maramis was born in Athens. He studied composition and piano in Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama in Great Britain. In composition, his tutor was the classical British composer Brian Elias, (who is) also tutor at the Royal Academy of Music, and in piano, the international Russian pianist Mikhail Kazakevich.
He was awarded a price this year 2012, for his original score of the play Erotokritos, directed by Stathis Livathinos, at Acropol. Altogether, he has composed music for more than 35 plays in Britain and Greece. Some of them are: Picasso, Erotokritos, Othello, Cyrano de Berzerac, Blood Wedding, Eldorado, Beauty & the Beast, Miss Julie, The Elephant Man, Les Liaisons Dangereuses, As You Like It, Peer Gynt, Antony & Cleopatra, The Women of Troy, Three Sisters, Glass Menagerie, Cat On a Hot Teen Roof, Not About Nightingales e.t.c. He has collaborated with the National Theatre in Athens, with the National Theatre of Northern Greece, the English Shakespeare company in UK, Sherman Theatre in UK, the Megaron of Music in Athens, Dimitria Festival, e.t.c.
He has composed original scores for the movies The Balck Field, Anna, Logicomix, Memory.
