Ramzi Yassa is the winner of several international prizes. He has appeared both live and on television throughout the world in such venues as the Barbican, the Berliner Philharmonie, the Kennedy Center, the Mann Auditorium, the Musikverein, the Palau, Suntory Hall, the Tivoli, the Théâtre des Champs Elysées. His concerto performances have associated him with such conductors as Charles Groves, Yehudi Menuhin, Zubin Mehta, Horst Stein. Ramzi Yassa was born in Cairo where he studied in the National Conservatory until he joined the Tchaikovsky Conservatoire in Moscow for five years. Prizewinner of the Marguerite Long and the Viotti competitions, he won a Certificate of Honor in the Tchaikovsky competition and three years later the First Grand Prix in the Paloma O'Shea International Competition in Santander as well as the Special Prize E. Casanueva. Ramzi Yassa appeared with Zubin Mehta at the Gala Music Night which was relayed on television throughout the world. In 1988 he was invited to play in the inaugural concert of the new Cairo Opera House. He received the Franz Liszt Centenary Commemorative Medal. He regularly takes part in juries for international competitions in the United States and Europe. Besides his performing activities, he is piano professor at the Ecole Normale de Musique “Alfred Cortot” in Paris.
