He was born in Kozani in 1965. He studied electrical engineering in Thessaloniki and jazz and harmony at the Contemporary Music School. He continued his music studies at the Musicians Institute of Los Angeles (1987-89), where he was honored with the MI Scholarship Award.
He has composed music for cinema, theatre and dance. In 1998, he formed Human Touch, along with Stavros Lantsias and David Lynch. In January 2004 they released their second album “Movin'”, while at the same time Yiotis Kiourtsoglou was recording his first personal album Hapopsis (Libra Music). Since 2003 he is working with the internationally renowned pianist and composer Milcho Leviev. He has also participated in Vicky Almazidou and Milcho Leviev’s last album Quiet Love.
He has worked with important artists, including Billy Hart, Manny Boyd, Danny Hayes, Dionysis Savvopoulos, Thanos Mikroutsikos, Elli Paspala and Alkinoos Ioannidis, as well as with the Interbalkan Orchestra. He has given performances with the internationally renowned drummers Βilly Cobham and Michel Lambert and he has appeared several times with Peter Erskine in Greece and Bulgaria.
