MANOLIS KOUTSOUNANOS: JOURNEY FROM TRADITION TO JAZZ

This musical journey is the result of my personal need and desire to bring together two worlds that play a dominant role in my life and existence, as a human being and as an artist. The traditional sounds I was exposed to as a child in the city of Kozani where I was born, grew up, and where I now live, the experiences and imagery that accompanied them, have always moved and excited me. So I wanted to find a way to marry this wonderful musical tradition with jazz, which provides an endless field of expression, adding my personal perspective.
The sound moves between Macedonian music, where Kozani brass wind instruments mix with the jazz soundscape. A musical voyage of different styles that are connected and harmonize with each other, in order to take you on a journey to two different musical worlds at the same time. The beautiful melodies of Leventiko, Mia Paraskevi, Paiaboro, Syre syre, Patinada, Kalonychtia, Stangena ke Peristeria, are reborn with a different musical character.
