WORKSHOP: THE ROLE OF MUSIC IN THE ARTS

Driven by a shared vision and love for their city, the founding members of the Thessaloniki Friends of Music Society embarked on a joint, coordinated, and diligent effort. Striving to realize their vision, they succeeded in creating the Thessaloniki Concert Hall. Coming from various sectors of Thessaloniki's social, business, political, artistic, and intellectual life, their goal was to contribute to the promotion of the Art of Music and to the broader cultural development of modern Thessaloniki. A city that, over its 2,300-year history, has consistently played a leading role in the production of culture and new ideas through intellectual and scientific currents.
We are delighted that these aspirations have come to fruition, and the Friends of Music Society of Thessaloniki has rightfully earned the Academy of Athens Prize "For its exceptional artistic contribution to Thessaloniki, as well as for its cultivation of music education," and also "For its high-level cultural events and the promotion of artistic and intellectual growth."
