DANCERS OF NORTH: A DOLL’S HOUSE by IBSEN
Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DANCERS OF NORTH
The revolutionary and timely work of Ibsen serves as a source of inspiration for “Dancers of North”. A Doll's House is defined as a space of challenge, deconstruction, conflict, and liberation. Ibsen's bold endeavor ignites the need to break free from social norms and redefine oneself. A Doll's House not only serves as a feminist manifesto but also as a symbol of liberation from societal molds, a testimony to the clash of roles and desires, and the need for self-confrontation, communication, autonomy, and freedom.
Nora, as a symbol, reflects the face of all women and acts as a mirror to social ailments and the need to escape in search of herself.
The Doll’s House itself, a protected and aesthetically pleasing space, is distorted with elements of contemporary reality, thereby revealing signs of decay and the secrets hidden behind its walls.
The dancers – heroes of Ibsen’s play physically express their passions and desires. They reflect real, everyday people and invite them on a journey of self-redefinition and discovery.
The choreography is created by Tatiana Papadopoulou and the music by Manolis Famellos.
The performance is suitable for ages 12 and above.
