During the first half of the 17th century, in Italy, in a climate of incredible creativity, modernity, and experimentation, what would later be called baroque music began and flourished. In this climate, instrumental music and the family of violins, also of Italian origin, had unprecedented and rapid development. The genre of the instrumental Canzona and the Sonata for solo instrument and bass continuo, or the trio sonata for two violins and continuo, became very popular. The most important Italian composers and instrumentalists of the period produced a large number of works with strong elements of experimentation and improvisation, thus laying the foundations for the brilliant and virtuosic character of Baroque instrumental music. In the concert, the three outstanding Greek musicians perform with the important Bulgarian violinist and director of the Sofia Baroque Arts Festival, Zefira Valova and present works by Dario Castello, Biaggio Marini, Marco Uccelini.
