DANILO REA: LA GRANDE OPERA IN JAZZ

The Grande Opera in Jazz is a tribute to one of Europe’s greatest pianists, Danilo Rea, to the Italian composers who made the melodrama famous around the world, and to the amazing stars who performed it, such as Maria Callas, Beniamino Gigli and Enrico Caruso.
This performance features an unprecedented musical journey, where the piano notes come together in a narrative of great artistic and poetic resonance through the world-famous arias of the great Italian composers Puccini, Rossini, Verdi, Bellini and Donizetti. An audiovisual performance enriched with video projections of a historic archive of black and white photographs, along with evocative and original contemporary works of art.
Danilo Rea’s brilliant performance enhances the artistic value of the voices from the historical recordings from 1910 onwards, as well as the previously unreleased video images, in a harmonious coexistence between melodies and live musical improvisation.
A new cultural and emotional experience, inspired by the most beloved arias, takes the audience into a dimension of live artistic participation, attracting the interest of both opera lovers and the wider public while reviving the great value of Italian melodrama in a contemporary way.
