PRAYER OF THE HEART

Prayer of the Heart: The sold-out production at the 2019 Sacred Music Days Festival at the Alternative Stage of the Greek National Opera comes this year to Thessaloniki, with the soprano Danai Kontora. The Orthodox faith of the British minimalist composer Sir John Tavener (1944-2013) conducted by Nikos Laaris in four unique works:
 
Ypakoë – a deeply Greek work, written in Chalkidiki: a meditation on the Divine Passion and the Resurrection
Epistle of Love – the mystical poetry of medieval Serbian monks dedicated to Divine Love
Sacred Dream – Holy Week in Greece and a dream the composer had transformed into a solemn Liturgy
Prayer of the Heart – written especially for the Icelandic singer Bjork
