NATIONAL THEATRE LIVE
JOSEPH L. MANKIEWICZ: ALL ABOUT EVE
Organizer: TCH WITH THE SUPPORT OF THE ANTENNA GROUP
Recorded broadcast from the Noël Coward Theatre in London
With Greek subtitles
Run time: 2 hours (no interval)
This new production by the National Theatre stars Gillian Anderson (X-Files, The Fall, NT Live: A Streetcar Named Desire) and Lily James (Downton Abbey, Mamma Mia! Here We Go Again). Directed by the innovative Ivo van Hove (Network, NT Live: A View from the Bridge). The curtain is gradually lifted on a world of raging competition, jealousy and ambition, posing the question as to why our obsession with fame and youth is so powerful. In this theatrical adaptation, Ivo van Hove had available to him as raw material Twentieth Century Fox’s cinematic masterpiece (1950) and the play The Wisdom of Eve by Mary Orr. Set and lighting design from Jan Versweyveld, costume design from An D’Huys and music from PJ Harvey, with sound design by Tom Gibbons.
All About Eve: Margo Channing. Legend. True star of the theatre. The spotlight is hers, always has been. But now there’s Eve. Her biggest fan. Young, beautiful Eve. The golden girl, the girl next door. But you know all about Eve… don’t you…?
