FOLLIA - OSTINATI, CANZONI, SONATE & FOLLIAS FROM BAROQUE ITALY

The ‘La Stravaganza Greca’ group will be closing the Festival with an original and imaginative programme of Italian music that covers the period from the early 17th century to the mid 18th century and emphasises the glorious, free and often improvisational and virtuoso character of Italian baroque.  A style that significantly affected later music in Europe. 
Works that highlight the skilful and expressive style of early instrumental Italian music for violin and cello, of composers and virtuosos of the 17th century Andrea Falconieri, Girolamo Frescobaldi, Tarquinio Merula, Dario Castello, Marco Uccellini, Domenico Gabrielli, as well as those who came later, Arcangelo Corelli, Giuseppe Valentini and Antonio Vivaldi.
