This year’s Beethoven Cycle of TSSO, staged in cooperation with Thessaloniki Concert Hall Organisation, starts with the Overture to Fidelio from the homonymous opera of this magnificent artist, the only one he composed in his long and successful career. His Violin Concert was also unique, a wonderful work intensely influenced by French compositions, probably resulting from Beethoven’ Flemish origin. The programme is completed with the Seventh Symphony, which, according to Romain Rolland, is a creation by Bacchus, who uses it to “treat humanity with his sweet nectar”.
