PLAN 3

The Plan 3 Trio was founded in 2002 in Thessaloniki, with Makis Stefanidis on electric guitar, Lakis Tzimkas on double bass and Christos Yermenoglou on drums. The Trio has become a fixture on the city's jazz scene, appearing at numerous clubs and festivals (Sani Jazz On The Hill, Mylos, Vafopoulion, Para thin’ alos) and collaborating with important musicians, such as Chuck Manning, Sheila Jordan, Milcho Leviev, Diego Rivera and others.
The sound of the Trio is closely related to the corresponding Trios of Jim Hall, Pat Metheny and Kurt Rosenwinkel, but also demonstrates clear influences by John Coltrane, Charles Mingus and Ornette Coleman.
In 2013, the Trio released its first CD titled ...from Stockholm to Samothraki... on 'Polytropon’ records. At this concert, the Trio will perform pieces from the CD as well as new, original compositions, using the jazz ballad as their vehicle and the open playing style that characterises Plan 3.
