DIMITRA GALANI: CHRONOS

On Saturday, 9 January, we will have the pleasure of enjoying Dimitra Galani and a quartet of exceptional Greek musicians performing together for the first time , presenting songs written by our greatest creators, poets and composers. This performance was first staged during the past summer at the country's largest festivals, where it was loved by audiences and won top reviews from the media.
The orchestrations by the musicians involved showcase the influence of the East and West on Greek music in a unique manner. Petros Klambanis on double bass, Thomas Konstantinou on oud, lute and guitar, Spyros Manessis on piano and Christos Raphaelides on vibraphone become ‘one’ with Dimitra Galani, the “coryphaeus of this chorus”. The legendary performer condenses the history of Greek music, which she herself is a part of, as she was taught by these great creators during her first steps. Like a link, connecting the past to the present.
In a way, Chronos (time) in this unique show, is Dimitra Galani herself. Chronos are the songs we always need to recall in order to redefine our culture.
