This year, Anatolia College celebrates 125 years from its founding in 1886 at Merzifounda of Efxinos Pontos. It was founded by American missionaries who wanted to offer education services at the Christian populations of the area, mainly to Greeks and Armenians.
In 1921 the Turkish government orders the closing of the College and in 1922 they commanded them to abandon the Turkish territory. In 1924 Anatolia reopened in Thessaloniki and begun functioning again a year later, in 1925, offering students a high-level education for at least three generations. In 1974, in the wake of the Turkish invasion in Cyprus, Anatolia College offered scholarships to 20 Cypriot students.
Today Anatolia College is recognized as the leading educational foundation of Thessaloniki and it constitutes a significant part of the history of the city.
Anatolia Alumni Association reinforces the bonds between its 8.500 graduates and the School, organizing various cultural, humanitarian and athletic events and intervening dynamically in Thessaloniki’s intellectual and social scene.
The Anatolia College Alumni Association Choir participates at many prestigious Greek and international festivals and its performances are always a great success.
The Aris Choir of Limassol is subsidised by the Cultural Services of the Ministry of Education and Culture of the Republic of Cyprus.
