Vaggelis Chatzisimos

Was born in Athens. He started and finished his studies of music at the Conservatory of the Piraeus Association (monody class of professor Mira), where he received his diploma with excellent marks unanimously together with First Prize. Later on he attended the classes and seminars of technique and interpetation of K. Paschalis, I. Alva, J. Cofrubaw and A. Pola. Since 1993 he collaborates with the Hellenic National Opera (Assedio di Coriuto, Tosca, Ballo in maschera, Messa di Requiem). He also has worked with all the Greek Orchestras on a steady basis (the Athens and Salonica State Orchestra, the National Symphony Orchestra of the Greek National Radio and Television Corporation, and the Kamerata Orchestra of the Friends of Music). He also has collaborated with foreign Orchestras and Choruses. Besides his participation in performances of operas, in his repertory are also included other significant works of Symphony repertories (the 9th Symphony of Beethoven, Requiem of Verdi & Mozart Die Schopfung, The Messiah). A considerable part of his activities have to do with works of Greek Composers of the younger generation and also of older ones, with most significant ones the first universal performance of the symphonic work of Mikis Theodorakis "Canta Olympico" which he recorded with the National Symphony Orchestra of the Greek National Radio and Television Corporation with conductor Lukas Karytinos. He also presented in universal first the role of Menelaos in the opera "The return of Helen of Troy" by Thanos Mikroutsikos with conductor A. Myrat. During the spring of 1995 he presented in universal first the role of Egisthos in the opera "Elektra" by Mikis Theodorakis, with the Opera of Warsaw.
