Bertrand Cuiller

Bertrand Cuiller is a multi-faceted French harpsichordist who spreads his efforts widely performing solo recitals and chamber music concerts, as well as directing his ensemble, Le Caravansérail.
Born into a musical family, Bertrand was awarded Third Prize at the Bruges Competition and the highest distinctions at the Conservatoire in Paris. He then worked for the best musical ensembles, including Les Arts Florissants, Le Concert Spirituel, and Le Poème Harmonique early on in his career before deciding to follow his own path by performing solo recitals and directing his own ensemble.
His discography reflects his eclectic repertoire, which includes English (William Byrd, John Bull, Orlando Gibbons, Peter Philipps), Italian (Scarlatti) and French music (d’Anglebert, Couperin and Rameau) as well as works by Johann Sebastian Bach, which he recorded for labels such as ALPHA Classics, Mirare and harmonia mundi. Formed in 2015, his ensemble, Le Caravansérail , will tour in the upcoming season with a programme of Bach’s concertos for three and four harpsichords, Odes by Henry Purcell and John Blow with 5 outstanding soloists and the Choeur de Namur, Leçons de Ténèbres by François Couperin and a tribute to Frescobaldi, «L’aure dolci-Rome 1650». Bertrand also performs chamber music, with violinist Sophie Gent and cellist Bruno Cocset, to name but a few.
