horns
Mélanie Flahaut was born in 1981 in Rouen, Normandy, where she grew up in a family of musicians. She studied the recorder with Nadine Levillain, through whom she discovered the rich world of early music. At the same time, she took numerous classes at the conservatory in Rouen, including bassoon, piano, composition, harmony, and analysis.
After completing her baccalaureate and her full curriculum at the CNR of Rouen, Mélanie moved to Paris for specialization with Jérémie Papasergio for the bassoon, Jean Tubery for diminution, and Pierre Hamon for the recorder. Later, she joined the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, studying with Conrad Steinmann and Claude Wassmer. She obtained her diplomas in baroque/renaissance bassoon and recorder in 2006 and 2008, respectively.
Specialized in early music, particularly Renaissance and Baroque repertoires, she integrates her instrumental practice with a focus on historical and organological research.
Her practice spans from Renaissance repertoire to classical orchestral music, including various consorts, song, chamber, and orchestral formations. She regularly performs with the ensemble Correspondances (S. Daucé), La Cappella Mediterranea (L. G. Alarcon), and the Lunaisiens (A. Marzorati).
