Christos Marantos

Piano
Christos Marantos is a pianist focusing on both classical and contemporary music. He graduated with distinction from the Conservatory ‘’Ellinikon Odeon’’ and he holds a Bachelors and Masters degree from the mdw- University of Music and Performing Arts Vienna.
Christos has played in International festivals and important stages such as Wien Modern and the Musikverein, in 2021 he received the distinction of a ‘Boesendorfer Artist’. As a soloist he has premiered several piano works and has collaborated internationally with various ensembles such as aron quartett, ensemble xxi. Jahrhundert (exxi), and Christian Altenburger. The Piano Duo Marantos-Ossberger (2006-2019) has performed across Europe and Asia and in 2011 they recorded a CD of Schumann’s works on the Gramola label
Christos is a lecturer for piano in the Department of Composition Studies and Music Production/mdw, as well as in the Johann Sebastian Bach Music School Diakonie Österreich, where he has developed a method for team teaching. Since 2023 he is one of the key researchers of the artistic research project ‘Trans-bodied knowledge’ in the Institute of Architecture in the TU Wien and his main role is to relate music improvisations with space.
Christos regularly holds masterclasses at institutions such as the Anton Bruckner University for Music, Dance and Theatre and the College of Music, Mahidol University in Thailand. Finally, Christos is an artist with high humanitarian concerns, and he has curated several artistic events on current problematics of the society, such as ViennAthens (Film Archiv Austria 2019), a cultural project under the auspices of UNESCO Austria.
