Double bass
The bassist, double bass player, and Sicilian Fabio Crescente began his musical journey in childhood, starting guitar studies with his father at the age of eight. He earned his degree in double bass in 1992, classical guitar in 2001, Archaeological Heritage in 2005, and in teaching the instrument in 2008.
Crescente honed his skills by participating in international courses at the Arts Academy Istituzione Sinfonica di Roma, the professional training course for the Orchestra di Budrio, classes at the Scuola Superiore di Studi Musicali 'Ars Nova' in Palermo, and jazz music courses at the Berklee College of Music in Boston with Bruce Gertz. In 1993, he was appointed as a bassist at the Umbria Jazz Clinics.
Over the years, Crescente has collaborated with a diverse array of both Italian and international artists, including Ivan Lins, New York Voices, Mario Biondi, Lino Patruno, Jane Monheit, Monica Mancini, and Gregg Field. Since 2018, he has served as full professor of electric bass guitar at the 'A. Scarlatti' Conservatory of Music in Palermo.
Bassist Fabio Crescente has distinguished himself through a series of notable achievements within and beyond the musical community.
During the academic year 2023-24, he served as the Lead Professor in a Masterclass of electric bass as part of the ERASMUS + Program at the Conservatorio Superior de Mϊsica de Navarra in Spain, from March 7 to 9, 2024.
Crescente is an internal collaborator of the VIETMUS Grant Agreement Project 101083156 ERASMUS-EDU-2022-CBHE and act as the contact person for the Conservatorio "A. Scarlatti" in coordinating activities and relationships with national and international partner institutions under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) dedicated to the Internationalization of Higher Artistic and Musical Education Institutions.
He is a member of the Academic Council of the Conservatory A. Scarlatti of Palermo from the academic year 2020 to 2023 and has been re-elected for the next term, 2023-2026.
Crescente also participated in the MUSense - MUSIC Higher education project meets the Cyber dimension, presented by the Conservatory under the Erasmus+ KA2 Higher Education Cooperation Partnerships program, which took place in Brussels from May 4 to 7, 2023.
Furthermore, he is the creator and Artistic Director of the BLUE JAZZ FESTIVAL in Mazara del Vallo, contributing significantly to the cultural and artistic landscape.
