University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra
The University of Delaware Symphony Orchestra (UDSO) is an auditioned ensemble comprised of the finest undergraduate and graduate students from the distinguished University of Delaware School of Music and from departments across campus. The UDSO presents a variety of concerts annually performing literature from the standard orchestral repertoire, spanning periods from contemporary to the Baroque, as well as collaborations with School of Music faculty, choral ensembles, the UD Opera Theatre, Cinema Symphony Series, UD Cultural Fusion Initiative, and with guest soloists, composers, and conductors.
The UDSO frequently participates in a variety of travel opportunities, both regionally and abroad. Recent tours include performances in South America (Bogota and Zipaquira, Colombia) Asia (Beijing, Xi’an, Shanghai, China), and Europe (Athens, Heraklion, Thessaloniki, Greece) with projects in Africa (Lagos, Ife, Ibadan, Nigeria). Future collaborations with programs overseas continue to solidify the School of Music’s reputation as an international force in the arts, providing students with unique, inspirational musical experiences worldwide.
