Gianluca Margheri

Bass baritone
Born in Florence, Gianluca Margheri studied singing at the conservatory “Cherubini” in Florence. In 2009, he won the international singing competition Toto Dal Monte di Treviso, whereupon he debuted Villotto/La vera Constanza under the baton of Jesús López-Cobos at Teatro Real Madrid, at Royal Opera Liege and at the theatres of Sanit-Etienne, Rouen and Reggio Emilia. Many debuts followed, as for example as Gugliermo/Cosi fan tutte in Florence and Rome, in the titel role of Don Giovanni in Budapest, Siena and Florence, or as Figaro/Le Nozze di Figaro at St. Gallen Theatre. He sung DON CARLO and MACBETH in Florence, Jago/Ernani with the Munich Radio Orchestra and Betto/Gianni Schicchi in Parma. With Asdrubale/La Pietra del Paragone he gave his debut at Rossini Opera Festival in Pesaro and sung Alidoro/La Cenerentola in Palermo. At Festival Alte Musik Innsbruck, he debuted Mercurio/L’ incoronazione di Poppea and debuted at Liceu Barcelona singing Garibaldi in Händels Rodelinda. In Dublin, London, Ravenna and Lucca, he sung the titel role of Vivaldi’s Bajazet. Gianluca collaborates with leading conductors such as James Conlon, Zubin Mehta, Marco Armiliato, Friedrich Haider, Jesús López-Cobos, Daniele Rustioni, Riccardo Frizza, Andrea Battistoni, Roland Böer, Alan Curtis, Jonathan Webb and Gabriele Ferro.
