Soprano Marina Voulogianni was born in Thessaloniki. She studied classical singing with V. Tsabali at the New Conservatoire of Thessaloniki. Having received the scholarship granted by the Foundation “Maria Callas”, she continued her studies in Italy with G. Ravazzi and later in Athens with V. Gavakou. She made her operatic debut in 1993 at the Athens Music Hall as Susanna in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro. She then appeared in a large range of roles such as Fiordiligi in Mozart’s Cosi fan Tutte, Doña Anna in Mozart’s Don Giovanni, Eurydice in Gluck’s Orphée et Eurydice, Ernst Damen in Mozart’s Die Zauberflöte, Neda in Leoncavallo’s I Paliacci, Medora in Verdi’s Il Corsaro, Giovanna Seymour in Donizetti’s Anna Bolena, Sacerdotessa (high Priestess) in Verdi’s Aida, Michaela in Bizet’s Carmen, Mimí in Puccini’s La Bohème, Governess in Benjamin Britten’s The turn of the screw, Liú in Puccini’s (Turandot). She appeared and premiered works of great Greek composers such as Antigone of Mikis Theodorakis in the leading role of the opera and interpreted Myrrini in Lysistrati, a production which was performed both at the Athens Concert Hall and at the Thessaloniki Concert Hall during the Cultural Olympics. Within the framework of the Cultural Olympics she also performed Dafne in the opera Rea composed by Greek composer Samaras in the ancient theatre-Odeon of Herodes Atticus. In 2004, she appeared as Doña Elvira in Mozart’s Don Giovanni at the Greek National Opera and had a great success as Contessa in Mozart’s Nozze di Figaro production of the Concert Hall of Thessaloniki and one year later in the theatrical and musical performance “The Woman in the obscure landscape of love” based on Kurt Weill’s works, presented in the theatre Aylaia of Thessaloniki. In 2006 she performed the role of Mimí for the Opera of Thessaloniki. More recent appearances are her interpretation of Athena-Minerva in Offenbach’s operetta Orphée aux Enfers produced by the Thessaloniki Concert Hall in 2009 and of Fiordiligi at the Athens Concert Hall in 2011. As a soloist, she has also taken part in many chamber music events and collaborated with various ranges of instrumental and orchestral ensembles and symphonic orchestras such as the National Orchestra of Athens, the National Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Municipal Orchestra of Thessaloniki, the Camerata, the Symphonic Camerata of Salzburg, the Orchestra of Colors, the Virtuosi of Prague, the Symphonic orchestra of ERT (greek national radio and television) performing a large repertoire of oratorios and other works covering the baroque and classical period (Handel’s Theodora, Pergolesi, Scarlatti but also romantic and contemporary composers such as Mahler (4rth and 8th Symphonies), Rossini, Satie and many others. In parallel to her career as a soloist, Marina Voulogianni has collaborated with various private conservatoires, supervised a large number of diplomas in classical singing and given opera workshops.
