Vincent Kennedy

Composer
Vincent Kennedy is a composer and conductor from Dublin, Ireland whose creative works includes Symphony, Oratorio, Cantata, works for Symphonic Wind Band, Brass Band, Pipe Band, and chamber works for many combinations.  He has just completed a work called “the dingle starry” especially for the Ensemble Telyn Cymru’s performance at the 2022 World Harp Congress being held in Cardiff in July 2022. The title comes from words in the first stanza of Dylan Thomas’ poem “Fern Hill”. In March 2022 he conducted the world premiere of his music “Colmcille – Dove of Peace” an Oratorio to celebrate the 1500 anniversary of St Colmcille. This Oratorio will be performed as the closing concert of this year’s Earagail Arts Festival. To date Vincent has issued nine albums of his music and will shortly conduct and record some more of his orchestral music with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra for later release. Vincent describes his music as music of people and place and says “Music has been a faithful friend: always there to uplift, distract, colour and comfort. I write music to enrich life and take my inspiration from many sources and possibilities, like a bee using the nectar of different flowers to produce a unique honey.'
