Pianist and composer, Orazio Sciortino collaborates with important Italian and foreign musical institutions: Teatro alla Scala in Milan, MiTo Settembremusica, LaVerdi Orchestra, Orchestra del Teatro La Fenice, Bologna Festival, IUC di Roma, Ravello Festival, Haydn Orchestra of Bolzano and Trento, RAI National Symphony Orchestra, Philharmonic Academy of Verona, Maggio Musicale Fiorentino, I Pomeriggi Musicali of Milan, Scarlatti Association of Naples, Amici della Musica di Palermo, Sagra Malatestiana of Rimini, Ankara Festival, Konzerthaus in Berlin, Salle Moliere in Lyon, Ottawa Chamber Music Festival, Festival de Wallonie, Klara Festival Brussels, Sala Cecilia Meireles of Rio De Janeiro etc.
He had a great success with his opera, La Paura, dedicated to the Great War 1915-1918, and recently with his musical tale La Gattomachia, for narrator, solo violin and strings performed at La Scala Theatre during the season 2016/2017.
His CDs recordings, as pianist, are published by Sony Classical, Dynamic, Bottega Discantica, Limen Music.
He collaborated with Mazzotta and Skira with projects concerning the relationship between visual arts and music.
On 2016 Orazio was appointed Krug Ambassador. The prestigious maison of champagne, for the first time in its history, ask to a composer to compose a piece exclusively dedicated to Krug. Orazio’s piano piece Lives through a glass, dedicated to Krug Grande Cuvée is included in his album Self Portrait released by Sony Classical with his works for solo piano.
For label CLAVES, the Ambra Piano Trio and Swiss Ensemble New Wave record a CD with Orazio Sciortino's chamber works for piano and strings. He has a passion for cooking and lives in Milan.
