Wolfgang Fuhr
Saxophone
Through his unique style, Wolfgang emphasizes the level of importance the saxophone has achieved in Jazz. His range of expression is seemingly as limitless as his palette of sophisticated sounds. The press characterizes Wolfgang’s sound as “dirty and fantastic” or as “warm and earthy”. With his CDs he has impressively demonstrated his ability to internalize American Jazz without forgetting the European idiom.
Born 1966 in the south of Germany, he grew up in Bonn, studied and graduated at the University of Music, Cologne. Since then he has worked as a freelance saxophone-player and a composer. He has produced many CD's under his name and as a sideman, performed at big jazz-festivals (Berlin, Krakau, Lisbon, Maastricht, and many more), produced for the big radio stations in Germany DLF and WDR and worked together with jazz legends like Lee Konitz or Joe Gallardo and musicians out of different countries in Europe (a.o. “best Portuguese Jazz-CD” with Pedro Madaleno Group).
