Klio Blonz

Born in Thessaloniki Klio began her studies with Vesko Belomazof  at the Sinhrono Odio before continuing with C.Cantin and P.Dumail in Paris gaining a Premier Prix at the U.C.E.M flute competition. Meanwhile she completed an Aesthetics / Philosophy of Art Degree, at the Sorbonne University. Awarded with a scholarship from Trinity College of Music she then successfully completed a PGDip in Performance and a Master in the classes of A .Baker and W.Boustany.
Since the beginning of her career Klio has performed extensively both as a soloist and ensemble in the UK and abroad. She has been broadcast by BBC Radio 3 and has appeared in Festivals such as the Brighton Festival, Deverills, Barnes, Mayfield, Prokofiev, Peckham Arts and Adur Festivals in the U.K., Les Theophanies Festival in France, Festivals of Dodekanison, Demetria, Sani and the International Music Festival of Cyclades in Greece. Concert series performances include the Blenheim Music Circle, Blackheath Halls Lunchtime Recitals,  the Villelongue Abbey International Concert Series in France, Lincoln Music Club and the St Luke's Concert Series in Brighton to name but a few. She has performed in venues such as St John’s Smith Square, Burgh House, Royal Festival Hall, Blackheath Halls, St James's Piccadilly, Royal Chapel Church and the Dôme/Brighton, St Martin-in-the-Fields, the National Portrait Gallery, the Royal Academy of Arts, the Hellenic Centre and the Foundling Museum in London amongst others. Her special interest in contemporary music has led her to give numerous premieres in the U.K and abroad, as well as to record and work with composers such as Ficcara,  Athanasiadis, Luckett, Kubo, Nakisa, Stewart, Carmichael, Gander and Mills.
Klio is regularly touring the U.K. with her flute and harp Duo AMALTHEA and works regularly with cellist Rebecca Hepplewhite. Klio’s most recent project includes FANTASMATA, a collaboration with actress Amanda Douge, visual artist Peter Carey and sculptor Laurence Louisfert.  They gave two workshop performances as part of the Peckham Arts Festival at the Copeland Gallery in September 2016 and after opening their first season at the ASYLUM in London in April 2017, they were back at the Peckham Arts Festival in September 2017.
Klio is passionate about music education and an advocate of music in the early years. She has worked extensively as an early years outreach project leader for Trinity College of Music and is currently leading the early years music department at Blackheath Conservatoire as well as performing regularly for different children’s concert series around the U.K.
