Bülent Evcil is acclaimed as one of the best flautists of his generation by the world-famous flute virtuoso Sir James Galway. His flute training began at the State Conservatoire of Mimar Sinan University, Istanbul; then he continued his studies at Brussels Royal Academy, Belgium and Heidelberg-Mannheim Music Academy, Germany. In 1992, Evcil won the second prize of Best Overall Performer Award at the fourth James Galway International Flute Seminar in Dublin, later giving him the chance of being Galway’s student between 1992 and 1999.
He has been invited as solo flautist or principal flautist for several times by international orchestras like Lorin Maazel’s Arturo Toscanini Philharmonic Orchestra, Italian International Symphony Orchestra and Sao Paulo State Symphony Orchestra. Among the names of the distinguished conductors and musicians he has worked with are Lorin Mazel, Ali Rahbari, Igor Oistrakh, Emil Tabakov, Ion Marin, Gürer Aykal, Tadeusz Strugula, Claudio Scimone and Richard Galliano, Fazıl Say, Benoit Fromanger, Davide Formisano, Marc Grauwels, Raffaele Trevisani, Lior Kretzer, Phillip Moll, Cihat Aşkın, Ruşen Güneş and Andrea Oliva.
As a soloist, Evcil gives concerts in Turkey and abroad. He has been invited to perform at outstanding international festivals and organizations like Falaut International Flute Festival (Milano, Italy), Flautomania Teatro alla Scala (Milano, Italy), British Flute Society Convention in Manchester (England), NFA flute conventions headliner concerts in San Diego and New York (USA), Slovenian Flute Festival, Nice International Flute Festival (France), International Flauta Fest (Belgrade, Serbia), Flute Sounds Festival (Prishtina, Kosovo) and German Flute Association Flute Festival (Freiburg, Germany).
Evcil released the albums Tango Zamanı (Time for Tango, 2008) and Orta Doğu Minyatürleri (Middle Eastern Miniatures, 2012) in Turkey.
Also, he is the solo flautist at Fazıl Say’s Mezopotamia Senfonisi (Mesopotamia Symphony, 2013). His last CD ''the flute virtuoso'' came to market 2016. He was the principal flautist of Istanbul State Opera and Ballet between 2000 and 2005. He is currently the assistant principal flautist of Istanbul State Symphony Orchestra and solo flautist at the Borusan Istanbul Philharmonic.
Evcil is decorated with the Royal Art Encouragement medal of Belgium, and awarded by the classical music magazine Andante as the Best Wind Instrument Player of 2010 in Turkey.
