Elena Christodoulou received her Piano Diploma with Honors, first prize, and a gold medal under the instruction of Dimitris Toufexis. In 2000 she graduated from The American College of Greece (Deree College), where she received a B.A. in Music, with Highest Distinction. She received the Fulbright Scholarship, The Onassis Foundation Scholarship, and a scholarship from The Boston Conservatory of Music (Boston M.A.), where she earned the Master’s Degree in Piano Performance under the instruction of Michael Lewin. She also studied with great pianists, such as Leon Fleisher, Jacob Lateiner, Aquilles delle Vigne, Nicolae Petrof, Marcella Crudelli.
In recognition of her contribution to the artistic activities of The American College of Greece, she was awarded with the Special Artistic Award, the second award given in the history of the College. She is a prize winner in several important competitions in Greece and abroad, such as the International Piano Competition “Fryderyk Chopin, Roma”, as well as she was the winner of the “Piano Honors Competition” and the “Concerto Competition 2002”, in Boston U.S.A..
She has collaborated as a soloist with various orchestras not only in Greece but also abroad: with the Orchestra of Colors under the direction of Miltos Logiadis (Athens Megaron Hall), the Italian orchestra “Partenopea” under the direction of Enrico Volpe, the chamber orchestra of the American College of Greece under the direction of Dimitris Toufexis, as well as the Saxophone orchestra under the direction of Theodore Kerkezos. She has given piano recitals in the U.S.A, in Italy (Rome), in Egypt (Cairo Opera House, Alexandria Opera House), in Greece, always receiving highly acclaimed comments on her technique and interpretation. In Greece she has collaborated with numerous Embassies, such as the American, Swiss, Italian, Egyptian, and Serbian Embassy (sponsored by Princess Katherine of Yugoslavia), with the aim of promoting the Greek, American, and European classical music.
She has also given numerous chamber music concerts in Europe and U.S.A. She has collaborated with important musicians, such as Theodore Kerkezos, holding a diverse repertoire from Baroque era to 21st century. She has created with Alexander Halapsis and Alexander Haralampous the “bios” piano trio. Since 2006 she has been collaborating with the pianist Christina Panteli, creating a successful piano duo with numerous concerts in Greece and abroad, always receiving highly acclaimed comments on their accomplished and sensitive performances. Even though they hold a diverse repertoire from the piano duo literature, ranging from the Baroque era to 21st century, they often feel the need to interpret works by Greek composers, many of which have dedicated their works to them. In 2011 they were invited by the Greek Composers Union to give an honorary concert with Greek compositions for two pianos celebrating their 10-year anniversary of collaboration with the Goethe Institute.
Since 2009 they have been collaborating with the baritone and actor Panagiotis Petrakis, creating a unique trio for two pianos and voice performing songs of the international and Greek repertoire. The two pianists have composed the transcriptions for this trio: they have successfully integrated well-known themes from the classical repertoire into the songs, thus creating interesting new and unique sounds in the world of music.
