Double bass
George Smyrnis, started studing classical guitar at the age of 12. At the age of 16 has been introduced to jazz and relatives musical styles such as latin, funk, soul, etc.., also to the electric and double bass wich will finally be his main instrument working professionally as a bass player until today.
Among his studies at the A.P. University, his studied drums at the AGOSTINI school, working at the same time as a drummer to some of the most famous jazz venues in Thessaloniki. His interest to exlpore further multi-instrumentalism, he studied classical and jazz piano also saxophone with GRIGORIS SIMADOPOULOS and DIMITRIS KARAGANIS.
For more than 20 years he is one of the most active musicians at the area of Thessaloniki and the wider area of Greece giving concerts in Greece and abroad with some of the most famous Greek artists of different musical styles such as G.HAROULIS, L.KALIMERH, F.VELESIOTOU, N.KATSIKAS, ANTAMA etc.. taking part to some of the greatest music fetivals and concert halls such as DIMITRIA, MEGARON MOUSSIKIS, SAARBRUCKEN etc..
Motivated always by his preference to jazz music and relatives styles he has collaborated with very important greek and international musicians such as NATASSA MARE MOUMTZIDOU, HARRIS IOANNOY, HANS FICKELSCHER, WOLFGANG FUHR, OLEG CHALY, PETER SALZEV, KOSTAS MAGGINAS, AROMA CARIBE etc ...
