Ioannis was born in 1973 in Thessaloniki.
During his studies he was scholar of the Yamaha Music Foundation (1992), of the “Athens Friends of Music Association” (legacy Kivelli - Yanni Horn 1993 - 1995 & Al. Trianti 1998 - 2000) and of the State Scholarship Foundation (S.S.F., 1995 - 1997).
At his participations in competitions he won repeatedly first prizes in National Cello competitions (Association of Graduates from Thessaloniki Conservatories, Ph. Nakas) and in chamber music competitions (HELEXPO).
Since 2001 he is permanent member of the Thessaloniki State Orchestra. He also teaches at the Conservatory of Northern Greece in Thessaloniki.
He studied cello with Renos Baltas at the Thessaloniki State Conservatory and with J. F. Sellheim and K. Heitz at Hannover Academy of Music and Drama (Hochschule für Musik und Theater Hannover), where he specialized also on cello teaching.
