He was born in Thessaloniki. He graduated with honors from the Drama School of National Theatre of Northern Greece. He has participated in Sotigui Kouyaté, Santor Zoter, Andreas Voutsinas, Michael Marmarinos and Nicolai Karpov’s master classes. Since 1992 he works in National Theatre of Northern Greece participating in important performances, such as: Loxandra, The Acharnians, King Lear, Hamletmachine, Babylonia, Irma la Douce, Ornithes, A night with Redge, Opereta, Exile, From now on, Samia, The Frogs, Dolly, The Bourgeois Gentleman, The Trojan Women, Peace, Lysistrata, Machinal. He has worked with the directors S. Hatzakis, S. Livathinos, A. Voutsinas, M. Marmarinos, S. Zoter, M. Afkiran, K. Arvanitakis, Y. Rigas, V. Nikolaidis, D. Chronopoulos, N. Kontouri, P. Michaelidis, D. Avdeliodis and others.
He also worked at the National Opera in the musical Follow the Fellow who Follows a Dream as a soloist, directed by Y. Karahisaridis, as well as with the Union of the Theatres of Europe, appearing in the performance Getting Horny performing Pentheas, directed by S. Ζoter. The performance was presented at the Katona Joszef Theatre (Hungary), at the National Theatre of Finland, at the Teatro di Roma (Italy), at the Mali Theatre (Russia), at the Théâtre Populaire (France), at the Teatro Galibardi Palermo (Sicily) and at the Βulandra Theatre (Romania).
Nikos Kapelios participated in the TV series En Iordani (direction: P. Dimitrakopoulou) and in the films It’s a long road (direction: P. Voulgaris), Omega (direction: V. Blioumis), Gamos sto perithorio (direction: V. Kessissoglou), Love at first click (direction: Tr. Dimopoulou – 1st Award at the Greek Festival London).
