Efi Stamouli was born in Thessaloniki. She graduated from the Drama School of the National Theatre of Northern Greece and the Department of French Literature of the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki. In 1978, she began working as an actress at the National Theatre of Northern Greece and later at the Experimental Stage of Art (Peiramatiki Skini tis Technis), which she also co-founded. She has performed dozens of important roles of the classic and contemporary theatre and she has worked with many directors, including Nikos Hourmouziadis, Nikos Armaos, Ersi Vassilikioti, Petros Zivanos, Nikos Hatzipapas, Glykeria Kalaitzi, Yiannis Leontaris, Yiannis Moschos. She participated in two films (It’s a long road – Pantelis Voulgarisand Nobody – Christos Nikoleris). She has also been an occasional translator and director. She is a Professor at the School of Drama of the Faculty of Fine Arts at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki.
