ALEKOS SAKELLARIOS: WITH A CUNNING GLINT IN THE EYE (KAI PONIRIA STO MATI)

The greatest consolation after the war, occupation and civil war was the laughter that arose from the theatrical plays and the cinema. Almost all films of the 1950s and 1960s featured songs that were born out of the need to complement the fiction.
Alekos Sakellarios was the leading trailblazer in that endeavour.
A creator who, up until the last years of his life, kept the child in him intact. Or it would be better to say that he retained the seriousness with which a child plays. Therefore, he certainly reminds us of aspects of ourselves, not necessarily from the old and forgotten days.
It is beyond doubt that if he were alive and heard the audience-listeners uniting into a big choir, he would glow with joy!!
Always with a cunning glint in his eye!!!!
