14th CONTEMPORARY MUSIC WORKSHOP
Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL IN COLLABORATION WITH THE DEPARTMENT OF MUSIC STUDIES AUTH
In the previous century, the conscious exclusion of emotion from the works of pioneering creators became the key parameter for embracing abstraction and fragmentation as a different approach, while simultaneously enabling the audience to develop a sense of familiarity with contemporary music. Even when the work seemed incomprehensible and detached from the natural course of social life, stirring up the trivialization and communicative insignificance of human existence. Nevertheless, the boldest works were always presented as they appeared more relevant, and therefore, they became a cultural ideal!
However, in today's postmodern environment, contemporary composers are allowed to activate emotions functionally through the forces of attraction and repulsion, as they seem to form a common ground for everything that artists may perceive, feel and experience.
