THEATRE AT THE CONCERT HALL
AUTUMN STORY by ALEKSEI ARBUZOV
Organizer: THESSALONIKI CONCERT HALL
Aleksei Arbuzov, a successor to Russia's great playwrights (Gogol, Gorky, Chekhov), wrote Autumn Story in 1975, brilliantly recounting the beginning of a personal relationship between two people. Dr. Rodion Nikolayevich and Lydia Vasilyevna, a former actress, meet by chance at a treatment facility in Riga. They are no longer young, yet they fall in love. No, Arbuzov doesn't write another love romance. Rodion and Lydia try to break down the walls that they have built around themselves and genuinely connect with one another. With incredible humor, empathy, and often a lot of harshness, he strips the characters bare and exposes them vulnerable to the public eye.
