“The Earth is not just a stage upon which we enact our human story, since the Earth itself is the protagonist, and it is alive. Climate change is not fiction but a reality”
Akram Khan
Jungle Book reimagined, based on the homonymous book by Joseph Rudyard Kipling.
The adventures of Mowgli are transported to the 21st century. In this fresh perspective of The Jungle Book, the emblematic Akram Khan choreographs the cry of an outraged nature and a planet that is gasping for breath.
Ambitious and spectacular, Akram Khan's new creation, Jungle Book Reimagined, is based on Rudyard Kipling's homonymous book (The Jungle Book).
Through the sense of urgency, the emblematic choreographer creates a fairy tale for children and
adults alike, which takes place in a dystopian environment, where the concern about the incessant destruction of our planet, the ecosystem and natural resources needs to be the key political and social priority.
Through the use of animation, the stage is transformed into a magical world, where the dancers move between reality and fantasy, thus emphasizing that the climate and environmental crisis was and still is more relevant than ever.
“And, as it is our children that will inherit our mistakes, I want them to know that the climate and environmental crisis was and still is a cultural crisis more than ever!” Akram Khan
Appropriate for children over the age of 10
