Jenny Drivala
Soprano
Was born in Kalamata. She studied Byzantine Literature at the University of Athens, classical ballet and acting at the school of the National Theatre. She started her studies of music at the Athens Conservatory (piano and singing) and she completed her studies at the School of Music at the University of Bremen. Her professional career started in 1981, when she participated in the performances of the opera "Lucia di Lammermoor" at the Hellenic National Opera. It was followed by a line of succesful appearances both in Greece and abroad. She sang in famous lyric theatres such as: Teatro alla Scala, State Opera of Vienna, National Opera of England, the Theatres of Chatelet and Champs-Elysee of Paris, the Teatro del Opera in Rome, New York City Opera, Liceo Theater of Barcelona, Theater Colon of Buenos Aires, State Opera of Victoria in Melbourne, The Performing Arts Center in Pretoria etc. She appeared also in the performances of Musical May in Florence and at the Festival of the two worlds in Spoletto. The Austrian Television has recorded the performance of the opera of Glouck "Armide" in which she participated by interpreting the role under the same name. She appeared also in the film production of Werner Staiter "malina" in which Isabelle Huppert was the leading star. In 1988 the Italian newspaper "Il Messagero" characterized her as the best interpretress at the Festival of Spoletto. At the international Conest of Singing in Toulouze she received in 1977 the third best prize together with the medal of the city. In 1982, at the International Contest of Singing "Vicenzo Bellini", she received the first prize and the special prize of "Maria Callas".
